However, it is Vivaldi’s group of four seasonal violin concertos that linger longest in the heart and mind: bridging the year from rousing Spring to frosty Winter. The same composer’s concertos for guitar, and for two violins, prove Vivaldi was no one-hit wonder, either; just as Purcell’s increasingly powerful Chacony proves that great English music existed long before Elgar was born!
